The Latrobe Gate at the Washington Navy Yard
While now surrounded by 19th and 20th century additions, the original gatehouse was designed by Benjamin Latrobe, the original architect of the US Capitol. It was one of the new buildings to survive the burning of Washington during the War of 1812. Now housing for the Navy's top brass, our work focused on renovating the south elevation.
